FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to nephrology, and concerns sarcopenia screening in a patient undergoing programmed hemodialysis (HD) treatment. That is ensured by assessing the levels of prealbumin and C-reactive protein of blood serum, taking into account the experience of HD therapy, as well as by questioning the patient to find out how difficult it is to lift weight of 4.5 kg and how difficult it is to climb 10 stairs. Each index is evaluated in points according to the developed point score system. If the total score is 5 or more points, a high risk of having sarcopenia is detected.

EFFECT: method provides high effectiveness of diagnosing sarcopenia taking into account individual characteristics of patients receiving HD treatment.
