FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry, in particular to a genetically modified mouse carrying a nucleotide sequence which encodes a human EPO protein, where the genetically modified mouse is immunodeficient, as well as to use thereof in a method of identifying an agent which inhibits an infection caused by a pathogen which strikes human erythroid sprout cells, and a method of identifying an agent which prevents an infection caused by a pathogen which strikes human erythroid sprout cells. Invention also relates to a method of producing a mouse expressing a human EPO protein and containing a human hematopoietic system, as well as to a method of producing a mouse, which is infected with a human pathogen, which affects human erythroid sprout cells involving using said mouse.
EFFECT: invention enables effective use as an animal model of human erythropoiesis as an animal model of human erythrocyte function, as well as an animal model of erythrocyte infection by human pathogens.
