FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: electric parking brake device is configured to allow switching of control mode between: operating mode from switch for locking and releasing electric parking brakes by operation of electric parking brake switch; and operation mode from connection with gear shifting for locking and releasing electric parking brakes in connection with gear shifting gear shifting operation. Device of electric parking brake has a mode selection control unit configured to select a mode of operation from the gear shifting connection as a control mode, if the breakage determination unit of the switch determines that the electric parking brake switch is broken, and brake operation determination unit determines that electric parking brakes are in locking state.

EFFECT: invention improves response measures to breakage of electric parking brake switch to improve serviceability of electric parking brake.
