FIELD: laser engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser engineering, particularly, to solid-state lasers. Active element of solid-state laser is doped with activating admixture optical rod, on outer surface of rod along its entire length is made groove with minimum possible width w and depth h, sufficient for suppression of transverse modes, in which start-up is introduced in the form of composition with absorption index α at working wavelength of laser  , where τ is specified coefficient of transverse modes absorption on working wavelength of laser.

EFFECT: technical result consists in enabling creation of an active element having a maximum level of output radiation with minimum labor input.
