ELECTRON ACCELERATOR TARGET ASSEMBLY Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC G21G1/00

Abstract RU 2716824 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a target assembly of an electron accelerator and can be used to produce various radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals. Device comprises converter of electrons (2) and capsule (1) with irradiated substance (5). Converter of electrons (2) and capsule (1) with irradiated substance are placed in one housing (3) equipped with window (6) for electron beam and inlet and outlet pipes (7) and (8) for heat carrier flow. Electron converter (2) is made in the form of a flat plate equipped with ribs on each side and arranged so that the plate thickness is equal throughout the area irradiated with electrons. Capsule (1) is made in the form of a sealed sleeve, partially filled with irradiated substance (5) and partially equipped with ribs on external surface. Heat carrier used is liquid metals, for example sodium, potassium and their eutectic alloy. Housing (3) is made of structural materials compatible with liquid metal heat carriers and relatively weakly absorbing electrons. Metallic radium is used as irradiated substance (5).

EFFECT: technical result is intensification of heat exchange and simple design of target assembly of electron accelerator.
