FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of supporting automatic guidance and assisting railway vehicle drivers. In method based on several, representing some area (FSB, GLB) of rail gage/rail track path (BIFSB, BIGLB) in some image region (BIB) created on each of these images, in which the rail gages/tracks (FS, GL) recorded in relation to the graphically depicted region (FSB, GLB) lie substantially in the same place, based on the fractions of the registered rail gage/track in the image area (BIB), using the edge recognition algorithms, detecting rail gage/track (FS, GL), which is used by the railway vehicle, according to the measured on the recorded image ratio of the image of rail gage/track in relation to the entire image and compared with stored in memory with known meta information (MI), wherein said meta-information comprises primary metadata related to rail gage or, accordingly, rail track, and secondary metadata related to railway run or related to rail haul.
EFFECT: possibility of automated maintenance of railway vehicles without additional infrastructure on the haul.
