SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of controlling an electrically-driven system which generates an aerosol, the method comprising steps of providing an electrically-driven aerosol-generating system comprising a storage portion configured to store an aerosol-forming substrate, an electric heater comprising at least one heating element for heating the aerosol-forming substrate, a sensor for detecting activation of the system, a frequency generator and an electrical circuit connected to the sensor; start of control procedure; measuring parameter of system use during control procedure with application of sensor; completion of the control procedure if the duration of disconnection between successive activations exceeds the threshold value of duration of disconnection of comparison of the measured use parameter with the threshold value; determining the use profile of the system based on the comparison of the measured use parameter with the threshold value; repetition during different time periods of the stages of the start-up of the control procedure, measurement of the use parameter, completing the control procedure, comparing the measured use parameter and determining the usage profile in order to determine the usage profile during different time periods of the day; binding a specific usage profile with different time periods of the day; monitoring current time of day using frequency generator; and selecting the operating mode of the system based on comparing the current time period of the day with different time periods of the day and based on related defined usage profiles.

EFFECT: technical result consists in enabling adjustment of aerosol-generating system in accordance with its use profile.
