FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of materials by cutting and can be used for examining the temperature state of the cutting process during drilling by the method for a naturally forming thermocouple. The method includes installing a drill in the drill chuck of the machine, fixing the processed part on the table, electrically isolating the drill from the table of the drilling machine and isolating the processed part, imparting rotational, rectilinear and reciprocating movement to the drill, transmitting and recording the thermal EMF from the movable drill to the millivoltmeter. The drill is isolated by means of a split dielectric sleeve in the form of an abrasive material, and the processed part is isolated by means of a hard rubber disc and a split hard rubber sleeve. The thermal EMF is transmitted from the movable drill to the millivoltmeter by means of a fluoroplastic sleeve with a copper disk at the end, fixed on the spindle of the drilling machine, by creating a constant electrical contact of said copper disk and a copper current collector. The thermal EMF is recorded upon connecting the millivoltmeter to the processed part and the copper current collector by copper wires.

EFFECT: accuracy of measurement of the thermal EMF during drilling is increased without disturbing the electrical contact.
