SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for assistance in parking a vehicle. Parking assistance method for generating a peripheral image indicating periphery of a moving object as viewed from above, detecting an unoccupied parking place around the moving object and displaying on the peripheral image an auxiliary image indicating that the detected unoccupied parking point is an accessible parking place. Method includes determining whether a moving object is interfering with an unoccupied parking spot and prohibiting display of the auxiliary image on the unoccupied parking location in relation to which it is determined that the moving object is invading in the peripheral image.

EFFECT: higher safety of vehicle driving is achieved.
