It is determined whether there is an oncoming vehicle on the intended trajectory of the vehicle in question when determination of the turn stop to the right/left is performed. It is then determined whether the oncoming vehicle stopped on the far side, which is the first vehicle on the oncoming lane, when it is determined that the oncoming vehicle is not present on the intended path. Movement is allowed for turning to the right/left when the oncoming vehicle is defined as stopped while the vehicle in question has stopped with the intended movement for turning to the right/left, and performing a turn.
