SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition for use in treating cancer. Composition contains a metal-binding glycoprotein, such as transferrin or fetuin, and a chemotherapeutic compound having a formula selected from a group consisting of formula (I)
, where M in each case is independently selected from a group consisting of osmium, ruthenium and rhodium; X is selected from a group consisting of Cl−, PF6−, Br−, BF4−, ClO4−, CF3SO3− and SO4−2; n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; q independently in each case is equal to 0, 1 or 2; y independently in each case is equal to 0, 1 or 2; z independently in each case is 1 or 2; values Lig1, Lig 2 and Lig 3 are defined in the claim; and b) of formula (II)
(II), where M is selected from a group consisting of ruthenium, osmium and rhodium; X is selected from the group consisting of Cl−, PF6−, Br−, BF4−, ClO4−, CF3SO3− and SO4−2; n = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; y = 1; z = 2; value Lig is defined in the claim. Also disclosed is a method of treating a disease associated with hyperproliferative cells, such as glioblastoma cells and carcinoma cells.
EFFECT: disclosed composition includes use of metal-binding glycoproteins as carriers for delivery of photodynamic compound (PDS) based on metals to improve delivery of PDS to a biological target; PDS delivered by the composition according to the present invention have improved properties, such as efficacy, tolerance, therapeutic effectiveness, and diagnostic properties of PDS in multi-wave photodynamic therapy.
