FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. The method for predicting infectious complications of critical condition is proposed. The method presupposes that one should determine the concentration of extracellular DNA in the plasma of peripheral blood during the first 24 hours after a patient is admitted to the intensive care unit. After that one should determine the intensity of exDNA oxidation in terms of the amount of oxidized deoxyguanosine (8-oxodG) in exDNA per 1 mln of nucleotides and calculate the protection index. Based on the values of the protection index, infectious complications of critical condition are predicted.
EFFECT: invention provides increase in the predictive value of the concentration of extracellular DNA (exDNA) as a predictor of critical condition.
