FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of manufacture of transmitting optics from a preform and to a lens made by said method. The preform (2) is made of plastic. Removal (4) of material is performed on the preform (2) using a laser (3) by evaporating the preform material in the area wherein a laser beam is applied to the preform. Removal of material is executed from 0.01 to 10 mcm per laser beam pulse at a pulse energy of 0.1 mcJ to 10 mcJ, a pulse duration of less than 1 ns, a laser wavelength between 193 nm and 370 nm, and a focus diameter between 5 and 50 mcm.
EFFECT: ivention allows manufacturing lenses with increased depth of field and optical density gradient.
