SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for monitoring the formation of tire sides on a tire production line. The method for monitoring the formation of tire (39) sides (44) on the tire production line includes placing frame sleeve element (3) having end valves (50) bent up around corresponding annular retaining structures (43) to form corresponding sides (44), rotating frame sleeve element around its axis (2a), obtaining an image showing the circumferential part of the radially outer surface of frame sleeve element (3) during the specified rotation. The specified circumferential part contains corresponding edges (6) of bent-up end valves (50). The specified image is processed to determine a tendency of change along the circle of axial distance (sx, dx) from each edge to base plane (11) on frame sleeve element (3) orthogonal to specified axis (2a). Possible defects of sides (44) are detected, depending on the specified tendency.

EFFECT: providing automatic search for many types of side defects on the production line on all manufactured tires without increasing manufacturing time.
