A method for evaluating the effectiveness of treating pneumonia by examining a general blood test before and after treatment is to additionally determine in the blood serum the amount of C-reactive protein, the activity of catalase, superoxide dismutase, elastase- and trypsin-like proteinases, the level of TBA-active compounds and the concentration of bityrosine and to calculate the discriminant functions of Y1 and Y2, and with Y1 greater than Y2 and a decrease in the number of leukocytes by 30% or more, the activity of trypsin-like proteinases by 20% or more, the number of eosinophils by 50% or more, as well as ESR by 50% or more, the amount of C-reactive protein by 50% or more, SOD activity by 50% or more, the level of TBA-active compounds by 50% or more, the concentration of bityrosine by 50% or more compared to the level before treatment, the treatment of pneumonia with alveolar type of infiltration in the lung tissue is evaluated as effective.

EFFECT: invention provides increased accuracy of evaluating effectiveness of treatment of pneumonia.
