FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed to determine the parameters of the geometric position of the wheels of the vehicle according to the data of three-dimensional scanning of the surfaces of the wheels of the vehicle. The essence of the invention consists in the fact that a number of light elements are projected onto the wheels and the illuminated wheels are removed and the resulting images are transmitted to a computing device that calculates the necessary parameters, as well as to the corresponding systems implementing the method. According to the invention, the contours are searched for and the spatial position of the central point of each projected light element of a given shape is calculated, visible in the images from the scanning unit, and the subsequent construction of a spatial regular grid forming a point cloud including the obtained spatial points is performed. Then the point cloud is divided into separate segments so that no points of any two segments are adjacent, and the segment that is closest to the surface level of the vehicle placement is selected. A set of secant planes is selected in such a way that they are not parallel and intersect the surface of this segment, with the exception of a certain area near the level of the vehicle placement surface, and lines of its intersection with the surface of this segment for each secant plane are built. For each intersection line in the coordinate system associated with the secant plane, an axisymmetric line is determined, relative to which the sections of the cross-section line of the surfaces related to the tire are located symmetrically. The construction of an axisymmetric plane perpendicular to the secant plane and passing through this axisymmetric line, along each axisymmetric line is performed. The axes of rotation of the wheel are determined as a common line of intersection of the resulting set of axisymmetric planes and the central point of the wheel, as a point lying on the axis of rotation of the wheel at the place of the average position of all projections of all points of the analyzed object on the axis of rotation of the wheel.
EFFECT: significant reduction in the amount of calculations, which leads to increased accuracy of the results obtained, in the absence of a predefined or calculated parametric model of the wheel and binding to its rim or other characteristic features, as well as the possibility of smoothly varying the required amount of calculations, thus making the use of a variety of scanning devices possible, providing high speed measurement of a variety of vehicles with different wheel formulas and wheelbases within one measurement zone.
