SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and an apparatus for assisting the movement of a vehicle. A method for assisting the movement of a vehicle, implemented by an apparatus for assisting the movement of a vehicle, assisting the movement of the main vehicle based on the predicted paths of another vehicle moving along the road to an intersection and an object of the environment other than the other vehicle. Another vehicle is moving in the traffic lane whereon the object of the environment is moving. The method comprises stages wherein an object of the environment object moving along the road to an intersection is selected, the predicted path of said other vehicle, constituting the direction wherein said other vehicle is going to move at the intersection, is predicted based on whether said other vehicle follows the object of the environment, and the movement of the main vehicle is assisted based on the predicted path of said other vehicle and the predicted path of the object of the environment.

EFFECT: increased safety of vehicle operation is achieved.
