SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to technology for encoding/decoding blocks of a given video component, in particular, to intra-prediction of such component blocks or obtaining selections of such blocks. Proposed is a method for decoding one or more images from a bitstream by outputting parameters representing a straight line passing through two points to obtain a target block chroma selection from an associated target block luma selection. The method comprises the stage of determining two points of a straight line, wherein each of the two points is defined by two variables, wherein the first variable of the two variables corresponds to the luma selection and the second variable corresponds to the chroma selection. One of the two points is therein determined based on the maximum luma-related value and the maximum chroma-related value, wherein the maximum luma-related value is a value based on the luma selections in the vicinity of the target block, and the maximum chroma-related value is a value based on chroma selections in the vicinity of the target block.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of encoding/decoding images.
