SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transmissions of vehicles. The locking control device for the vehicle power transmission device contains an electronic control module that performs adaptive locking control to ensure engagement in the slip mode of the locking clutch so that the differential rotation between the rotating elements on the input and output sides of the hydraulic transmission device is a target differential rotation set in advance. The electronic module corrects the target differential rotation based on the transition of the amount of accumulated heat applied to the friction elements of the locking clutch, and calculates the amount of accumulated heat. The module also calculates a long-term change representing a change in the cumulative amount of accumulated heat, and adjusts the amount of accumulated heat so as to set the target differential rotation smaller when the long-term change is large, compared to the case when the long-term change is small.
EFFECT: durability of the friction elements increases.
