FIELD: cell biology; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to cell biology and medicine and discloses a composition for transplantation of a cell population to a patient and a method for the production of multipotent cells of a mammal. Cells, according to the invention, are capable of differentiating in several endodermal cell lines. They are obtained from the tissue of bile ducts, and they are positive by at least one surface marker of stem cells, namely EpCAM, N-CAM, CXCR4 or CD133, as well as by at least one marker of a pancreatic cell line, by at least one marker of a hepatic cell line and by at least one marker of an endodermal cell line.
EFFECT: present invention allows for creation of alternative and additional sources of transplanted functional stem cells and precursor cells for use in the clinic.
