FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry and can be used for the production of catalysts and magnetic materials. Powder of metallic iron is used as the initial iron-containing component, which is dissolved in oxalic acid at a weight ratio of iron: acid = 1: (1÷2). Then the original cobalt-containing component - cobalt oxalate is added. The resulting mixture is homogenized by dispersing in a vibratory mill, followed by stirring with heating. After that, the mass is molded into granules and heat treated at 300-400°C. The resulting cobalt ferrite has a specific surface area of 64-77 m2/g and a catalytic activity in the decomposition of nitrogen oxide (I) 69-87%.
