FIELD: imaging technology.
SUBSTANCE: system for rendering color images on an electro-optical display when the electro-optical display has a color gamut with a limited palette of primary colors and/or the color gamut is poorly structured (i.e. it is not a spheroid or an obloid). The system additionally takes into account color changes caused by crosstalk between nearby pixels.
EFFECT: system uses an iterative process to identify the best color for a given pixel from a palette modified to diffuse the color error throughout the electro-optical display.
