FIELD: chemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) from a fibrous cellulose material by means of hydrolysis in an acidic medium at a MCC production factory. According to this method, the cellulose pulp suspension is condensed so as to form a filtrate. The consistency of the condensed suspension is adjusted to the level of 5 to 40% by adding a diluting liquid, and the pH of the suspension is adjusted by an acid to a value of 4 or less. The cellulose suspension is subjected to hydrolysis in an acidic medium at a temperature of at least 120°C in a reactor to produce a mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and hydrolysate. The mixture is unloaded from the reactor into a medium with a lower pressure and a lower temperature to boil the mixture and form boiling vapour. Microcrystalline cellulose is separated from the hydrolysate, and the separated cellulose is washed in one or multiple washing apparatuses, and the consistency of microcrystalline cellulose is increased by thickening for additional processing or for thickening and drying for additional processing.
EFFECT: production of MCC from a cellulose material.
