FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric traction systems of vehicles. Proposed method consists in setting shaft rotational speed of two heat engines driving first and second traction generators, respectively. Measuring the position of the fuel feed metering elements of the rotational speed controller of each thermal engine, setting the fuel feed metering elements position and comparing them respectively with the measured positions, values of their mismatch are integrated and taken as the value of voltage settings of the first and second traction generators. Difference of voltage settings of the first and second traction generators is calculated, the value of the obtained difference is integrated and according to the result, the specified value of the rotation frequency of the shaft of the thermal engine connected to the traction generator with a lower voltage setting is corrected, respectively, and in the direction of decreasing the preset value of rotational speed of the shaft of the heat engine connected to the traction generator with a higher voltage setting.

EFFECT: improvement of fuel efficiency of diesel locomotives with provision of their high traction properties.
