FIELD: chemistry; medicine; pharmaceutics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry, pharmaceutics and medicine and can be used in producing catalysts and medical preparations. Metallic tin is reacted with chlorine at atmospheric pressure and 80–110°C in an installation with a reflux condenser. Product is then purified with extraction of a pure tin tetrachloride fraction by high-temperature rectification. Synthesis and purification of tin tetrachloride is carried out in a stream of high-purity argon in high-purity quartz equipment.
EFFECT: obtaining SnCl4 of special purity with content of impurities less than 10-4 wt.
