FIELD: medical technology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical technology, in particular to an electrosurgical instrument for delivering microwave energy to biological tissues, in which a pair of conductive tuning elements are installed in the radiating tip of the instrument to form the profile of the microwave radiation of the instrument, so that the radiation profile is limited around the tip of the instrument. Such tuning elements can cause the radiation profile to be essentially spherical around the tip of the instrument, providing a well-defined ablation volume. EFFECT: tuning elements increase the efficiency with which microwave energy can be delivered to target tissues.
