FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for interlayer cooling of process gas between catalyst layers or catalytic layers in a wet catalysis plant for the production of sulfuric acid. In a wet catalysis plant for the production of sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid is produced from source gases containing sulfuric components, such as SO2, H2S, CS2 and COS, or source liquids, such as molten sulfur or spent sulfuric acid. One or more boilers are used to cool process gas between catalytic layers in a SO2 converter of the plant.
EFFECT: less complex and more economical heat exchange scheme is provided.
