SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of medicine and pharmaceutics, namely to the use of an inhibitor of the production of active oxygen forms (hereinafter – AOF) with a mitochondrial complex I for the prevention or relief of cardiovascular diseases associated with free oxygen radicals, where the inhibitor is anethole trition, and the specified diseases are selected from a group including heart failure, cardiopulmonary diseases, cardiotoxicity of anthracyclines, cardiotoxicity of anticancer drugs, cardiotoxicity of quinolones, cardiac fibrillation, pulmonary arterial hypertension and cardiomyopathy; as well as to the use of an inhibitor of AOF production with a mitochondrial complex I for the improvement of cardiac contractility in subjects with reduced contractility, where the specified inhibitor is anethole trition.

EFFECT: obtaining an inhibitor of the production of active oxygen forms for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
