FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, namely, to a method for quantitative organic functional analysis using spectrophotometry in the ultraviolet and visible spectral ranges. Proposed method relates to a method for the spectrophotometric quantification of aldehyde groups in modified silica gel using a reaction with arylhydrazine. 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine taken in excess, constituting 150—200% relative to the equimolar amount, is used as arylhydrazine. Herewith the difference between the reacting and residual unreacted 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine in the solution, corresponding to the content of aldehyde groups, is determined by spectrophotometry.
EFFECT: expanded range of simple, rapid methods for quantitative functional analysis of silica gels covalently modified with aldehyde groups.
