FIELD: optics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optics and pertains to a method for generating higher-order Mie resonant modes in mesoscale dielectric particles. Method consists in placing a mesoscale dielectric particle in a radiation-transparent medium, with the refractive index of the particle material exceeding the refractive index of the ambient material, irradiated by a flat linearly polarised electromagnetic wave. The particle is made in the form of a closed cavity; the refractive index of the material used to fill the cavity is selected below 1.3 times less than the refractive index of the ambient material.

EFFECT: lower losses of radiation in the material when generating resonant modes.
