FIELD: organic chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, and in particular to a method for producing methyl 3-aroyl-2-hydroxy-1-oxobenzo[d]pyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazole-3a(1H)-carboxylates of the formula IIIa-c. The method consists in the interaction of 3-aroylpyrrolo[2,1-c][1,4]benzothiazine-1,2,4-triones of formula Ia-c with methanol, taken in excess and acting as a reagent and solvent, by heating at a temperature 65°C for 1 hour.

EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to obtain previously unknown methyl 3-aroyl-2-hydroxy-1-oxobenzo[d]pyrrolo[2,1-b]thiazole-3a(1H)-carboxylates of the formula IIIa-c, which have antioxidant activity:
