SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring technology and can be used for non-contact determination of the length of metal pipes, both finished products and in their production at metallurgical, machine-building enterprises. The effect is achieved by the fact that in the method for measuring the length of a metal pipe, in which the controlled product is placed in the measuring section isolated above a grounded metal plane, electromagnetic oscillations are excited in the first radio wave resonator in the form of a segment of a long line, open at the ends and formed by a combination of conductors - a metal pipe and this plane, and measure the resonant frequency ƒ1 of electromagnetic oscillations of this segment of a long line, additionally excite electromagnetic oscillations in the second radio wave resonator located within the measuring section and filled with the environment in the measuring section, and measure the resonant frequency ƒ2 of electromagnetic oscillations of this resonator, joint conversion of the measured resonant frequencies ƒ1 and ƒ2 is carried out according to the relation
