FIELD: silicon carbide felt materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a silicon carbide felt material and a method for its production. The material can be used to make filters that can be used to purify aggressive liquids from foreign inclusions at high operating temperatures, as well as a reinforcing component in the creation of composite ceramic materials. A method for producing silicon carbide felt material is proposed, which includes placing a graphite crucible containing finished carbon felt in a batch vacuum furnace, preliminary heat treatment in a vacuum furnace at a vacuum of 1⋅10-5 mbar with a heating rate of 5°C/min to 700°C, followed by filling furnace chamber with argon to excess pressure with heating at a rate of 10°C/min, holding at the specified temperature for 20 minutes, cooling and surface treatment of the obtained samples with compressed air to remove the filling powder, characterized in that the carbon felt is placed in a graphite crucible in layers with silicon powder, heat treatment in a muffle furnace is carried out for 4 hours at a temperature of 400°C, and further heating in an argon atmosphere is carried out to a temperature of 1550°C at a pressure of 0.2 atm.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to ensure the synthesis of silicon carbide felt at a lower temperature by the method for vapor-phase siliconization of carbon felt, which combines high productivity, technical simplicity, high quality and chemical purity of the resulting product.
