SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to driving control method and device. Driving control device serves to perform an autonomous lane change from a first lane to an adjacent second lane. The control device, through the processor, controls the speed and steering of the subject vehicle moving along the first lane in an autonomous driving mode. The other vehicle detection unit detects another vehicle moving in the second lane. The processor determines whether another vehicle is detected moving within the predetermined detection zone in the second lane. The lane change to the adjacent lane is performed if another vehicle is detected moving in the adjacent lane. Lane change control is not performed if no other vehicle is detected. The lane change control is performed in front of another vehicle detected behind the vehicle in question.
EFFECT: increased safety of performing a lane change.
