FIELD: labelling equipment.
SUBSTANCE: technique is described for providing a labelling (101) located around an elongated object (102), preferably around a conductor, closed in the circumferential direction. The device, according to one aspect of this technique, comprises a material interface (156) to receive a printed product (214) dispensed by the printer (200); a data interface (158) to communicate with the printer (200) to provide or place the markings (101); at least one actuator (120; 122), so as to communicate with the printer (200) via said data interface (158), using a printed product (214) issued by the printer (200) to position the markings (101) on the object (102) in a circumferential direction or to provide for a circumferentially closed arrangement; and a memory device (132) which, through said data interface (158), can be read by the printer (200) and is intended to store operating parameters of the provision and arrangement.
