FIELD: medicine; pediatrics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the severity of acute infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr virus in children by biochemical analysis of blood serum. The content of neopterin is determined in patients with infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. When the content of neopterin in the blood serum ranges from 2.1 to 4.9 nmol/l, the severity of the condition is assessed as mild. When the content of neopterin ranges from 5.0 to 20 nmol/l, the severity of the condition is assessed as moderate. When the content of neopterin is above 20.1 nmol/l, the severity is assessed as severe.
EFFECT: method provides the possibility of increasing the reliability and expanding the functionality of determining the severity of acute infectious mononucleosis caused by the Epstein-Barr virus, by determining the content of neopterin in the blood serum.
