FIELD: medicine; pediatrics; infectology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the effectiveness of antiviral therapy in infectious mononucleosis in children. In children with acute infectious mononucleosis, 1.5 months after the antiviral treatment, blood serum neopterin is determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. If the blood serum neopterin level is less than 2.2 nmol/l, the antiviral therapy is considered to be effective. If the neopterin level is more than 2.3 nmol/l, the antiviral therapy is considered to be ineffective.
EFFECT: method provides higher evaluation of the effectiveness of antiviral therapy and improves the clinical course and outcome of the disease by providing the possibility of a more pathogenetically grounded therapeutic approach based on determining the neopterin level in the blood of children by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
