FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: method of operation of a detonation internal combustion engine is implemented by forced detonation ignition at a compression ratio and pressure in the combustion chamber exceeding the allowable pressure without detonation combustion. When pressure of 1.0–1.5 MPa is reached in combustion chamber (2) after fuel injection creating a lean air-fuel mixture, two detonation chambers (13), (14) are separated from the cavity of combustion chamber (2). Forced spark ignition is performed in combustion chamber (2) when pressure in the combustion chamber reaches 2.0 MPa. In the first detonation chamber (13), detonation self-ignition is carried out after 25 degree rotation of the engine shaft from the top centre when gases enter its cavity from combustion chamber (2) at a pressure of 5.0 MPa and a temperature above 1000 degrees Centigrade. In the second detonation chamber (14), detonation self-ignition is carried out after 50 degrees of rotation of the engine shaft from the top centre when gases enter its cavity from combustion chamber (2) at a pressure of 5.0 MPa and a temperature above 1000 degrees Centigrade. Disclosed is an internal combustion engine for implementing the method.
