FIELD: animal husbandry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the selection of dairy cows. The method includes determining the time of chewing movements of the animal during the day, fixed by sensors on the body of the animal, after which the index of chewing movements is calculated, obtained by dividing the time of chewing movements per day of each estimated cow in minutes, by the total number of minutes per day. Those cows are selected for which this indicator is more than the average for the herd by half the standard deviation of this indicator.
EFFECT: simplification of the process of evaluation and selection of cows for behavioural activity.
