FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for the synthesis of (S)-nicotine is proposed, in which, under the conditions of a coenzyme circulation system, including coenzyme, glucose and glucose dehydrogenase, using coenzyme as a hydrogen donor and imine reductase as a catalyst, myosmin is subjected to catalytic reduction to obtain (S)-nornicotine, and then (S)-nornicotine is methylated to give (S)-nicotine, where the coenzyme is a salt of NADP and/or a salt of NAD.
EFFECT: method for the synthesis of (S)-nicotine with high chemical purity and high optical purity.
