FIELD: pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: radiopharmaceuticals for use in targeted alpha radiation therapy for the treatment of malignant tumors, specifically to a method for preparing one or more generators with a high content of radium-228 from an aqueous solution containing thorium-232 and radium-228. The method includes circulating an aqueous solution of nitric acid in the first chromatographic column, wherein the column contains a stationary phase consisting of a solid material that selectively retains radium compared to thorium, washing the stationary phase with an aqueous solution of nitric acid, eluting radium-228 from the stationary phase with an aqueous solution of a complexone, selective to radium-228. Dissociation of aqueous radium-228 complexes is accomplished by changing the pH of the aqueous solution, resulting in a solution containing radium-228 in decomplexed form, which is then loaded onto a second chromatography column containing a stationary phase consisting of the same material as the first stationary phase. The second stationary phase is washed with an acidic aqueous solution, resulting in at least one radium-228 generator.
EFFECT: providing a method for increasing the effective capacity of a stationary phase material per unit weight of the material and preparing a generator with a high content of radium-228.
