SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the methods of the synthesis of pesticides, in particular non-selective systemic herbicides, specifically to a method of producing sulfometuron-methyl (methyl 2-[(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)carbamoylsulfamoyl]benzoate of formula I, which is the interaction of methyl 2-(sulfamoyl)benzoate with 2-(phenoxycarbonyl)amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine in an anhydrous polar organic solvent in the presence of an organic base at a temperature of 20–25°C for 1–2 hours in an inert gas atmosphere or in the air without any moisture, followed by treatment of the resulting reaction mass with acid to obtain the target product, its isolation and purification.
EFFECT: provision of a method of obtaining the target product with high yield and quality, simplifying the apparatus design of the technical process, reducing the duration of the synthesis, eliminating the use of elevated temperatures and unstable and toxic reagents.
