FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of organic compounds, specifically to a method of producing bensulfuron-methyl (methyl 2-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)carbamoylsulfamoylmethyl]benzoate (I)); method involves reaction of methyl 2-(aminosulphonylmethyl)benzoate with 2-(phenoxycarbonyl)amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine in a polar organic solvent in the presence of an organic base at temperature of 20-25 °C for 1-2 hours with subsequent treatment of the obtained reaction mass with water and acid to obtain the end product, its extraction and purification.
EFFECT: improvement of technical and economic indicators of technological process of production of bensulfuron-methyl due to simplification of its hardware design, reduction of duration, avoiding use of unstable, dangerous and toxic starting compounds, intermediate products and (or) reagents and high temperature, increased safety and overall efficiency of the process, and obtaining a target product of high quality with output of 92-95 %.
