SUBSTANCE: system includes a laser scanning device (4) and a control unit (5). The control unit (5) is configured to carry out the following steps: obtaining a model of the storage location; calculation of the number of layers of material in the area to be collected; dividing the storage area into multiple layers of areas to be collected; using a sampling area in the uppermost layer as a target sampling area, and obtaining a starting point for sampling the target sampling area; calculation of target spatial position data corresponding to the starting point of the fence; controlling the picker to move to the target spatial position; controlling the boom (2) to rotate in a given first direction; determining whether the position of the bucket wheel (3) reaches the sampling boundary of the target area to be sampled in real time; if reached, boom (2) is controlled to reduce swing speed; controlling the movement mechanism (1) to move to the next picking position; and turning the boom (2) in the second direction to continue the picking operation. Automatic sampling operation can be realized by using a material sampling system.

EFFECT: problems related to the safety of personnel and equipment are solved.
