FIELD: implants.
SUBSTANCE: method for forming a tantalum-containing biocompatible coating on the surface of a cylindrical titanium implant. The mentioned implant is cleaned from production contaminants. A cylindrical titanium implant is placed inside a ceramic vacuum chamber with an external water-cooled inductor. Then, between the surface of the said implant and the inner surface of the chamber, coaxially with the implant, a tantalum tubular target with a wall thickness of 0.1-1.5 mm, an internal diameter 10-25 mm larger than the diameter of the cylindrical titanium implant and a height equal to the length of the said implant is placed. The ceramic vacuum chamber is pumped out to a residual pressure of no more than 30±10 Pa and subsequent induction heating of the target is carried out to 2800±100°C at inductor current frequency 50±20 kHz, specific electrical power consumption 100-200 kW/kg with exposure for 60-600 seconds with the formation of a tantalum-containing biocompatible coating on a cylindrical titanium implant. The chamber is then cooled to room temperature.
EFFECT: ensuring the formation of a tantalum-containing coating on titanium implants, which has high hardness and improved biocompatibility compared to titanium.
