FIELD: mechanical engineering and instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of mechanical engineering and instrumentation, and in particular to the technology of forming hard, wear-resistant nitride layers on small-sized products from high-speed tool steels, namely stamping and cutting tools. A method for nitriding small-sized products made of high-speed tool steels, including placing the product in a cylindrical ceramic or quartz chamber, starting a gas medium, followed by induction heating, holding and cooling, while the working volume is purged with a gas medium, namely nitrogen, then the chamber is sealed and pressurized with nitrogen 0.1-0.3 MPa, subsequent induction heating of a small-sized steel product is carried out to a temperature of 800-1200οC at a current frequency on the inductor of 60±20 kHz and a consumed specific electrical power of 30-45 kW/kg, while the shutter speed is 5-15 minutes, and cooling is carried out by purging the chamber with nitrogen.
EFFECT: increase in microhardness and wear resistance of products made of tool high-speed steels as a result of the formation of hardened nitride and diffusion layers with a thickness of 20-30 µm and 160-200 mcm, and a microhardness of 1950±50 HV0.98 and 1650±50 HV0.98, respectively.
