FIELD: aerosol generation systems.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol-generating device and an aerosol-generating product. The aerosol-generating device contains a removable cavity for housing at least a portion of the aerosol-generating product, wherein the product contains an aerosol-generating substrate and an induction-heated current collector for heating the substrate. The device further comprises a DC power supply and an induction heating device configured to generate an alternating magnetic field inside the cavity for induction heating of the current collector of the product when the product is placed in the cavity. The device further comprises a control circuit configured to generate probing power pulses for intermittently supplying power to the induction heating device and capable of detecting a change in at least one property of the induction heating device due to the appearance or disappearance of a susceptor within the cavity when inserted into the cavity or removing the aerosol generating article therefrom, and in response to detecting at least one of insertion of the article into the cavity or removal of the article from the cavity.
EFFECT: it is possible to detect the introduction or removal of an aerosol-generating product into the receiving cavity of the device in response to detecting a change in the property of the induction heating device.
