FIELD: video encoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to changes in parameters of a hypothetical reference decoder (HRD) to support efficient encoding and/or conformity testing of multilayer data bit streams. Disclosed is a decoding method, which comprises receiving a data bit stream comprising an encoded image and an supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message, where this SEI message contains coded picture buffer (CPB) parameters corresponding to HRD operations performed on sublayers based on decoding units (DU); and decoding the encoded image from the data bit stream in order to obtain a decoded image.
EFFECT: high compression ratio with minimal or no damage to image quality.
