SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of making micro-targets and can be used in research programs in high-energy physics, for example, in thermonuclear synthesis, for generation of extreme ultraviolet and X-ray radiation, search for new particles. Method of producing a resonant cryogenic target involves making a cryogenic target in the form of a spherical granule of a frozen cryoagent drop, for example, liquid hydrogen or its isotopes by forming a liquid jet of a cryoagent and passing it through a vacuum chamber, where pressure is created slightly below pressure of triple point and by means of forced capillary disintegration of liquid cryoagent jets are broken into drops of equal size with their freezing and passing through working chamber. Spherical granules are made from material which is transparent for illuminating electromagnetic radiation with a refraction index of the cryoagent less than 2, the diameter of the granule is selected to be not less than 10λ/π and high-order super-resonant Mie modes are excited in the granule, hot spots are formed around the poles of the spherical granule along the direction of propagation of electromagnetic radiation during its irradiation.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing a resonant cryogenic target.
