FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to otorhinolaryngology, paediatrics, and can be used for prediction of aetiology of acute suppurative otitis media in children. If observing clinical manifestations of acute otitis media in children, a general blood test is performed. Thereafter, a leukocyte shift index (LSI) is calculated by formula: LSI = (eosinophils + basophils + myelocytes + metamyelocytes + stab + segmented)/(monocytes + lymphocytes). If the LSI value is 1.0 to 2.0 inclusive, the gram-positive coccal microflora is predicted: Streptococcus spp. Bacteria, Staphylococcus spp. If the LSI values are from 2.1 to 2.6 inclusive, a gram-negative microflora is predicted: Enterobacterales family. If LSI is 2.61 and more, gram-negative non-fermenting bacteria are predicted: Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Acinetobacter spp.
EFFECT: method enables simple effective prediction of acute suppurative otitis media in children without high material costs by conducting a general blood test to determine the number of eosinophils, basophils, myelocytes, metamyelocytes, stab and segmented neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes with the calculation of the leukocyte shift index.
